I am thinking about buying a rough O'Day 27. the Good points:it has good standing rigging from my visual inspection. It has an inboard 4hp Yanmar Diesel Inboard Engine, it is supposed to be working, haven’t been able to check that out yet.It has nice looking sails that have been covered or stowed.I have a spare main sail that fits it..
All hatch's glass is intact. It has a head and sink.I couldn’t find any weak points on the hull (rubber hammer taping)The bad:its been sitting for a year in the water with no one paying attention to it.I don’t know how good the motor is.No roller furl. The cushions all over are moldy and need to be replaced, they stored them all in the V birth and shut the door, locking all moister in.All the wood around the head is just starting to rot, I will need to replace the plywood under it, and around it. I will prob need to replace the bulkhead wood also. The floor doesn’t appear to have any rot otherwise. The inside is really dirty, I will have to pressure wash it all out and possibly paint the inside. (will try cleaning and waxing the gel coat first)The bottom paint needs striping and repaint.the topside paint is pretty good looking. The Hull paint isnt very good, will need to try to salvage the gel coat or enamel it.This is in Fort Lauderdale, FLIs the 4hp good enough? What would you pay assuming the motor works, and if it doesn’t work. I’m thinking $1000 even, as ill prob will need to rebuild the motor anyways due to age.a picture of it is below:http://www.helpmenetwork.com/photos/73030888_1.jpg
