I was glued to the TV having just completed a couple years working on the Apollo ships...the best job of my life. The earth orbit was very low so the spacecraft was "handled" by three ships, the Vanguard, Mercury and Redstone, when the ground stations were unable to see the bird. The ships were located in the middle of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans.

My parents let us all stay up late to watch. I'll never forget how exciting it was. I was 11 years old.

The day after my 19th BD at my friend's house watching their color tv cause my dad was so cheap we still had b&w. The camera they set up on the moon was also b&w. Go figure.

I was at a relatives with my wife to be (married next month on the 20th) glued to the TV. We were there for some sort of shower/party that I hardly remember. Vividly remember uncle Walter (Cronkite) taking off his glasses and shaking his head. Crude graphic Men Land on the Moon.

I was pounding the pavement on guard duty at the 93rd Battalion motor pool in Darmstadt, Germany- completely oblivious to what was happening above me.

I absorbed every second of the landing in front of the TV. I ask my wife what she was doing then. She is Korean and said that they were given the day off from school. She and some friends stood in front of a store that had a television. They too were very excited.

I was 9, and remember watching on tv. Not sure why I remember, but seems it was something good instead of all the bad news from Vietnam.

I was a 17 year old plebe at the Naval Academy. I can remember our company sitting on the floor of a passageway in Bancroft Hall watching a black and white TV. The picture faded in and out as the thunderstorms flashed lightning and the thunder boomed. It was so loud as to make one think we were under assault. After the Eagle had landed it was back to more "plebe activities"...running, PT, drills, memorization of stuff.

I was back from Vietnam only two weeks! I found the whole Apollo journey amazing. After Vietnam I was stationed at Scott AFB, Illinois and assigned to the Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Service, Research and Development Branch.

Little did I ever think that I was going to get involved with the Apollo 13 program and help in setting up capsule rescue contingencies. We were all biting our nails during that re-entry.

At that time there was this little event in a country called Viet Nam. I was camping out there with a few of my pals.

Looking up at the moon in awe of the accomplishment. My vantage point . . . PhuBai, Republic of Viet Nam, USARN, 63rd Sig Bn, supporting the 101st Airborne Screamin' Eagles!

I remain in awe of those who have served. Thank you!

I was four on that day, but my memory of standing on our back porch, squinting at the moon, hoping to see the lunar landing is as clear as if it were yesterday.:)

I was probably gnawing on a teething ring. I do recall all 3 tv channels were reporting the live blurry images.

I sat on the floor of the living room watching our little b&w tv with my 2 brothers & 2 sisters, and NONE OF US were fighting!
