In stepping and raising the mast, we have had the forestay pivoting top fitting [not sure of it's true designation(might be a ball stop), but I call it "a sphere inside of larger half of a sphere"] wedge/lock/jam off center so that we could not pull the forestay into a straight position. Therefore, the forestay was effectively 1/2" too short, and we could not attach it at the bottom. We could not shake out the jam, and had to drop the mast in order to free up the top of the forestay fitting.
Now to the question: Is there a type of grease I can use on that fitting that will not cause problems to the sail [roller furling] located directly below that fitting?
I am concerned that the grease will migrate down to the sail.
