Sail farther north. Lake Superior is a beautiful and haunting body of water. Most of our sailing is done on the warmer south side of the lake but the Canadian North Shore is calling. Colder water, plenty of fog, rocky coastline, hundreds of islands to explore and very few other boats to dodge. Sounds perfect.

I only listed projects in my first response to this, but now that I think about it, resolutions should be more aspirational. So, here goes:

I resolve to:

stay overnight on my boat a few times, even though it's damned tempting to just drive the fifteen minutes home to stay in my comfy bed.

buy a board boat and race it on Wednesday nights. Failing that, borrow someone else' board boat and race it on Wednesday nights.

introduce friends who don't sail to the sport.

become more active in my association- help new members and new sailors learn more about problem solving and avoiding newbie frustrations, be more vocal about boating safety.

and finally, SAIL MORE, SAIL BETTER.

Determined to sail

My New Year's resolution is to sail at least six Rocky Mountain lakes this summer and to finally get my Rocky Mountain sailing blog up and running.

2013?
Well after I realized that on 12/22 I was still here and HAD to pay off the charges for all the things I bought for my boat I started to think about the up coming sail season.....
1) sail different places- St Lawerence River/ Lake Ont., Chesapeke bay, L.I. Sound.
2) more "overnighters' on the water
3) find a "group" to sail with on a regular basis
4) find a great old boat that needs some TLC, spend some SERIOUS time fixing her up or make a boat from a pile of wood
5) 'course SAIL MORE!

TO GO SOUTH.

I am absolutely fed up with New Jersey winters. I shall be below Elizabeth City by November... or die trying. :)
