I have a Venture 22, but also own a Chrysler Buccaneer. The lazarette on the Bucc is pretty dark and rough (fiberglass splinters). What kind of paint would anyone recommend to brighten it up inside and be durable? Would Rustoleum work?

I'd stay away from that. The key to painting it and having the paint stay on is all preparation. Sand, wash with assatone, let dry, prime, paint.
Prime with a marine primer and paint with marine paint. I's going to get wet and stay wet longer than other paint is formulated for. There are all kinds of different manufacturers of marine paint. (If I was doing the laz on my boat I'd go for the cheapest. If I'm doing the topside... Not so cheap stuff.)
Do this in a well ventilated area! Outside.

Thank you for the fast reply! My local Fleet and Farm supply store actually has the Rustoleum Marine topside and bottom paint, as well as the primer in stock. Maybe I'll try prepping the inside and then brush/roll on some primer, then topcoat it with gloss white. The price on the paint isn't bad. I'm just tired of a dark and dirty looking laz with the splinters everytime I reach in there for something...I'm not looking at an Awlgrip job, just something to pretty it up a bit ;)

There is also Interlux Bilgkote which is designed for bilge areas that hold water for long periods.

I scrapped and removed all surface crap, bleached the surface then primed with BINZ sealer. Available at HD. It is mildew resistant and covers up everything. I then used Rustoleum topside paint. Came out mint!! Bullet proof. I just did the area that used to be covered with the beautiful sea blue shag rug. Yes OEM shag rug on the ceiling. Nasty. I plan on doing the rest.....some day.

Another thumbs up for Rustoleum Topside. Sprayed my Force 5 dingy hull with it and came out great. Doesn't stay in the water so topside paint is fine.

For below decks and lockers, you would be surprised home many folks go with semigloss latex house paint. The stuff has come far in terms of durability, is easy to work with and to re-paint when it gets beat up. Latex paint is also far more tolerant of moisture in the substrate, and getting these areas dry can be a problem.

Just wash it well, prime, and paint. I use the good stuff topsides and in the "pretty" areas below, but inside lockers? House paint.
