What to look for in a 25 Cataline swing keel

I currently have a 22 Tanzer and have changed my sailing location and would like to move up to a 25 ft sailboat. I'm going to look at a 1984 25 ft Catalina with a swing keel this week and would appreciate any comments on problems specific to that model that I should look for . Happy Sailing, Lynne

There are many things to look out for on swing keel, but of greatest concern is has there been regular maintenance. The keel pivots on a pin that should be replaced evry so often to avoid dropping the keel, The winch and wire used to raise and lower the keel also require inspection and maintenace so that the keel isn't dropped against the hull.
