So I am looking @ the existing blocks and none of them look usable, I would like to replace them all but I think I can remanufacture them if I can find replacement parts.
Does any one know where I can find parts for the blocks that are reasonable? I would like to fix the existing ones until I put the boat on the water and see if it floats before I spend lots of money for blocks and new/used sails.Talking about the sails main has rips in them so I am thinking "sail tape" until after the first trip out (again to see if the boat takes in water or not).
Thanks for your help, Costy:D

Do you mean rebuild them? Are you looking for replacement sheaves? I think the OEM hardware is Garhauer or Scheafer. Try someplace like Defender

I got replacement sheves for the main block from West Marine, they were just loose in some boxes around the rope area, different sizes for just a couple of bucks.

It has been awhile but I think I did and then used a screw that went through the sheave and into the mast for extra strength.

Did you driled out the center of the block to replace the shave?

Thanks, I was thinking of doing the same. I spent all day (again) on the trailer and it is done. I lowered the keel and sand it out completely primed and next week paint it.
I am thinking to go for 3/8 line instead of 1/2 inch do you think it is wise? I find blocks and line to be cheaper in 3/8.
I am also thinking of taking off all the bolts and nuts and re setting them using the 3M 4200
since the previous owner used a lot of silicone all over the place around the nuts and bolts.
I should be ready to go on the water by next year LOL, perhaps I am doing too much but that is the way I am just can't do half jobs.
The sad part is that I am spending more time with the boat than with my wife..

Thanks for all your help.

You can easily run 5/16 halyards, 1/4" or 5/16" jib sheets, maybe run 3/8" main sheet because it's easier on the hands. I have my old main sail with a blown out headboard, kinda baggy , but otherwise in good shape and a few older but servicable blocks if you want them, along with a mast crutch and some other stuff I don't need, pm me.

so the 5/16 sounds like a good option for this size of boat.... does that go for all the lines?...... such as the boom vang. I also want to rig a topping lift and i was wondering what size of line i should use there..... Maybe I should just buy a spool of 5/16 and do away with all the 3/8 the PO has on it....

I like Sta-set for sheets, Sta-set X for halyards(overkill I know) and different colors as much as possible for everything, with a jib or genoa halyard, downhaul, and 2 sheets, spinnaker halyard and 2 sheets, spinnaker pole uphaul and downhaul, main halyard, main sheet and traveller, outhaul, boomvang, topping lift, and backstay adjuster...it gets complicated. I use everything from 1/8" to 3/8", mostly 5/16". It's easier to tell someone to "release the red line, than to say release the genoa sheet.

Main sail with a blow out head board? I think I know which the main sail is but I did not know that it has a headboard. The main sail I got with the boat has two rips in it that I was going to repair with sail Tape (for now) so I can put this thing in the water soon.

The plastic triangle at the top of the sail with the ring that you attach the halyard to, cheap to fix, probably in better shape than what you have.
