I am about to replace all the thru-hulls in my 30ft Hunter, and as the old ones have coroded badly, I was considering using marelon thru-hulls has anyone had experiences with marelon or similar thru-hulls breaking? I just want to have ones where I do not have to worry about electrolysis and not bother about corrosion. Thanks

Marelon Thru-Hulls & Seacocks have served me well over 20 years use. Gord

Lubrication

I put Marelon ball valves in my previous boat. As long as you lubricate the ball periodically as recommended, there should be no problem. If you don't you risk breaking the lever off from trying to force a stuck ball open or closed. This is the usual breakage issue.

I used Buck Algonquin valves

...they have a grounding screw. I didn't trust marelon, however they seem quite strong. See my website link for details. -Rob
