Three of six fixed port lights on our 10.3 are cracked and the other three are crazed to the point of being opaque. I've found distributors of both lexan and plexi but I can't tell the thickness. Has anyone taken this on?
Thanks

On our 11.0a, I used 3/8. There is a recent thread on my window replacement.

I'm looking to do mine, too. I've also bought the Dow Corning 795 adhesive/sealant, as that seems closest to what was used originally and has been recommended in a number of forums. My understanding is that you want to stay away from true "plexiglass" and go with a polycarbonate, such as Lexan. I'm leaning toward 1/4" thickness. Two of mine are cracked, but there's an uncracked one on the port side that's leaking more than the others, so I'll probably tackle it first. If you find a good source for the Lexan, let me know.

figuer out how much you will need in relation to the cuts you have to make in order to get the final pieaces......it took 5' 6" x 4' sheet to make mine at a cost to me of $86.00..... including the foward hatch lens... when you determine this....start calling all the suppliers and ask for drops of jobs left over ...they always have some...you may have to pay as much as full sheet sq ft price but you wont have to buy a whole sheet that way and have some left over...Thissen Krupp company has a plastic divsion and outlets nation wide...start there and try all the plastic suppliers...for the record lexan is a good material but.....

Catalina and Hunter use the brand i spoke of in my other post (Cryon Acyralite) this inside info came From Maine Sale...and if he says its so its so...

Check out mcmaster Carr. http://www.mcmaster.com/. Check their warehouse location and if you are close you can save shipping. Good company with all sorts of good stuff. I looked they do have large sheets of 3/16" and 3/8" in bronze or gray. Hope this helps! SC

Great info...one warning for you

Be sure to sand the edges of the new window where you expect the sealant to bond. I saw a 9.2A where the new windows had popped right off, likely because he skipped that step.
