We thought it was a jap sub getting ready to torpedo our ferris wheel!!!

There is a NOAA Buoy 20 miles north of us on the Lake but this was just off shore.

I know it's a weather buoy, it just looked so strange!

Good thread...I like the humor!!!
Actually I was trying to be nice( I know, you guys aren't used to that)... but the term "jap" may be offensive to some/many. I'm sure you were referring to the Spielberg's "1941" but in this day and age.... political correctness cannot be ignored.

yeah, back when Joe was a Seaman Recruit!:D
Heh, heh.... you're right, it was the US Navy... Submarine Service, thank you. but I was discharged in 1971....Ahhh. Those were the days.

As a side note, it was my Dad who was the war hero (and mine).... he flew B17's over Germany. 3 purple hearts, distinguished flying cross... etc. and now it's my son, SFC Scott Ford. US Army, 82nd airborne, two bronze stars and a bunch of other bling in two tours of Iraq. Currently bound for Germany... where he'll probably get deployed again... this time to Afganistan.

Guys.... I rarely brag, never on myself... but I'm so proud of both my dad and my son I have to let it out... 'cause you know... they deserve it.
