Winches for Your 222
You got it ! I installed winches on my Starwind 19 (when I had her). I did use pieces of aircraft aluminium as backing / mounting plates, inside and underneath the winches. My Dad & I felt that would be good to keep the stress cracks down, or the winch just ripping out altogether. Hope that helps. Bob Burns=Rascal.

Winches for the 222
Brad, I'm pretty sure that my 222 came with Barlow single speed #15 winches. I have the original winch spec sheet that came with the boat. You really don't need the handle with these winches, but if you do get one, it makes a good ornament in the cabin. Joe

I have one original and one replacement Barlow winches on my boat. Both are in decent shape, and I may throw them on ebay to see if they'll help offset some of these expenses, but since I'm redoing the whole boat I figured I'd go ahead and go with new. I actually have a winch handle already (Barient, ain't I fancy?)
