I'm stepping my mast today after bringing the boat from Port Orchard, WA to Longview, WA yesterday and want to replace the turnbuckles on my 1976 Catalina 27. What size turnbuckle should I get?
All rigging specs are available at International Catalina 27 Owner's Association website: www.catalina27.org. However, match up with the old one's just to be sure.
You don't have any choice but to get the same size as you are replacing as the size of the turnbuckle is determined by the thread of the studs it has to match up with. I agree you should go with open bodied turnbuckles. They are easier to adjust and don't hold in grime and grit which can lead to thread damage.
