Hello Forum,

im replacing my forward manual heads with Raritan Elegance 24 volt (fresh and seawater) toilets

i was gonna wait and measure my forward heads in person when I get to my boat (currently on the hard in Mexico) however Defender is having a plumbing sale ... so Im considering purchasing now.

does anyone know if the forward heads in 2006 Beneteau 57 should be fitted with a straight or angle back ?

any insight would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Whether to go with the straight or angled back depends on the shape of the "wall" it will be against. The angled back is intended to lie against a sloping hull...the straight back against a vertical bulkhead.
As for short or tall, that depends on whether it will sit on a level head sole or on a raised platform.

Hi Peggie,

thx for your reply. Yes, im aware of the options however my boat is currently in Mexico and I’m unable to view or measure until after the sale ends. I’m hoping maybe a 57 owner might know what fits best.

im thinking (based on memory) the short (the 57 heads sit upon a raised platform) and straight version is probably best. I might just need to wait on the purchase, im pretty sure the toilets will be on discount again in the near future.

ps... experience (positive or negative) with Defender ?

cheers

Hi again Patrick... I just realized that you've only joined sbo.com today...welcome aboard!

If you can remember whether your head faces fore-aft or port-starboard, that'll tell you whether the back lies against the hull or a bulkhead. Meanwhile you might have better luck finding another Bene 57 owner if you search the "ask all owners" (or maybe it's "ask all sailors") forum. If that doesn't work, try Cruisersforum.com Many of the folks that hang out there are liveaboard blue water cruisers, so typically have larger boats.
I don't know of anyone that doesn't have a positive opinion of Defender. However, the online chandlery here has good prices and great service too. And you're right...spring sales oughta start sprouting soon.
