What size poppit is needed for a shoal draft 34'? The draft is about 4'6". Are two on each side plus one at the bow enough? I am having the boat trucked to my yard at home for the first time and need to purchase the stands.

I use 5

I have 5 for my 310, shoal draft. 2 on each side and one towards the bow. Remember that the poppets only serve to stabilize the hull and the weight should bear on the keel, underneath which you should have a nice long, thick wooden plank, like a 4 x 6. If the weight bears on the poppets, you'll eventually get tin canning of the hull for sure. don't forget to chain the poppets for safety.

Poppit or cradle ?

I use a cradle with 6 adjustable legs, which allows me to work on entire bottom. It also also moving the boat with a simple hydraulic trailer. BTW, how are you going to off-load the boat from the truck when it gets to your yard at home ?

Strong backs!!

Just kidding!! The trailer is hydraulic. I bring the boat to a launch ramp, the trailer is backed under it and pads swing up to suport the hull. The boat is hauled up the ramp and a cross member is placed under the keel. The boat is lowered onto the cross member and away we go! At home the process reversed except that the boat is placed on its keel and supported by the poppits. Pretty slick and quick. About $ 250 one way, about 5 miles. Greg S/V Seabew H- 34'

Our marina uses seven(7). . . .

for a boat that size. Can't tell you the size, guessing about 5' at middle of threads.
