What size Outboard for Mac 22???

I am fishing for some reccommendations on outboard size for an 1981 Mac 22. I need a four Stroke for Lake Tahoe and the added weight is concerning me. I like to sail Tahoe, Bay Area, and the Sacramento Delta both of which have tidal current. A 5hp seems fine for lake use, but I am concerned about use in tidal areas. Would a Four stroke 9.9hp (about 115 lbs) be too heavy for the transom???Cheers Steve

I would like to have mounted a four stroke on my 1972 Mac 22, but settled on a 2 cycle 9.9 Merc with a sailboat prop because of the limited space of the well.
