What size (%) is my Genoa?

My O'Day 25 came with the main sail and a jib, which appears to be a 100%.
It also came with another jib sail in a bag.
Today I took it out and measured it.
Sheet lines are 27'
Leach is 27'
Luff is 28'6"
Tack to Clew kringle is 16'.

I then read that I should measure along a line that runs from the clew to 90degree of the luff, to get the LP measurement. I came up with 15'3".
By my calculations I have a 140% Genoa?
16' would have given me a 150% but I didn't come close to 16 aling that line. I also did not get near 14'6" which would have given me a 135% Genoa.
It is in very good shape, has no markings but there is a black line midway the height running from luff to leach, on one side.


The J measurement is 10.6.

Any thoughts on what this sail is?

Although we hear about 110's, 135's and 150's, I don't think this is an exact science. I could well be this was a 135 or a 150 designed for a different boat. My boat had a 100 and I bought a bigger jib, paying more attention to luff length, it works out to be a 125 I think.

The formula you used seems correct, its a measure of overlap of the mast, so you don't use the foot length since jibs are cut with an angle.

Do your jib cars go back far enough to accommodate the larger jib? Mine don't and I need to fix that.

Is your J 10' 6" or 10.6'?

15.25/10.5 = 145%
15.25/10.6 = 144%

The black line is most likely a draft stripe where you can look at the sail and quickly determine the position of the draft while sailing.
