I am in the process of getting quotes for a new suit of sails for "Heron", a 1982 O'day 23. My sailing conditions are mostly light summer breezes, in southeast Indiana, so I'm thinking that a 155% will be a great improvement. (I now have a 20 year old 110%). I am buying a roller furling/reefing system but I'm concerned that I will still be over-powered when the wind picks up. The new main will probably be a full roach design with 2 full and 2 partial battens. Advice, suggestions, ideas, and information about what other people are using would be appreciated. Sounds right

Sounds like a 155 is good choice. I'd specifiy it with a foam luff so it can be reefed down when the wind picks up. You will want to watch it when its gusty but I'd rather have enough sail and reef than not have enough sail. Justin - O'day Owners' Web
