what pins are you using on the stays?

I've been getting more and more familiar with the 22 since purchasing it a few months ago and have had some great days sailing it.
So far setting it up and tearing down has been fairly easy, but one thing I can't seem to shake is that there must be something better than the shackle/ pin system for the stays.

Right now they held in with these little pins, maybe one inch long and a twisty wire to keep them from backing out. Ditto on the bow and stern.
My eyes aren't as good as they once were, so threading that thing while holding the wire is a real pain.

Are any of you using some sort of fast disconnect system or pin system that might be easier?
Also, same question on the mast pin. Is there a better method than this bolt with a threaded nut that I've got to use pliers on?

On my Hobie Cat, we had these push button straight pins, but someone told me not to use those.

I'm open to suggestions:)

thanks

I use the push button pin on my forestay and split rings on the rest.
No nead for a lock nut on the mast bolt, just put a wing nut on and call it good. The mast is in compression so you could dang near remove the bolt once its up. The bolt mostly functions as a pivot.

Heres what im talking about.

I use two drop cam pins like Allen-Deckard on the forward lower shrouds and one of these on the forestay (w/o adjustable backstay). It's quicker to set up than clevis pins but I still need to back off the turnbuckles, so there's more room for improvement.

Eventually, I'd like to get two more levers and have them on all the forward stays for minimum setup time and tuning retention.

I'm in the same boat as you with the clevis pins and was tired of the little cotter keys that held them in so I went with some brand new split rings and they weren't much better. Since I trailer sail exclusively, I broke down and ordered 3 quick release turnbuckles for the forestay and two forward shrouds. I went to Tractor Supply and bought a handful of "R" keys that fit my clevis pins and have been using them with no problems since. It works for me.

shotgun, I've got a tractor, but don't know what you mean by an R key. Do you have a picture of your rig?

That's it!! Thank you Allen. In case you're wondering if there's a chance of the sail or sheet getting hung up on the ends of the pins, I keep my forward lowers and the forestay with the quick releases and these pins wrapped in a shroud cover and nothing has hung up on them yet.
