what model westerbeke is this.

This is the engine plate form a 1986 Hunter 27 (actually porbably a 26.5?) Westerbeke (Universal) engine.
Nothing on the plate matches any Westerbeke charts of engines manufactured in that time period. Can anyone ID the model of the this plate or tell me what model Westerbeke was installed in 1986 Hunter 27?

Why do you think this is a Universal engine?
We may be able to guess if we can have a photo from the front of the engine.
Universal engines have a marking on the port side of the engine block displaying UNIVERSAL.

I don't know how this helps but that logo looks like it is for Nippon Denso.

That "ND" logo is for "Nippon Denso" (now just "Denso"). I don't know, but I don't think they ever made engines. They make components. I believe they made some for certain Yanmar engines. I don't really know ... not my wheelhouse. But, that is the company. According to this source (which I know nothing about) they stopped using that lettermark after 1982: DENSO Logo, symbol, meaning, history, PNG, brand

Nippon Denso made/makes diesel injection pumps .. I don't know if this is the original engine .. but I do know that Hunter was sourcing some engines from Westerbeke around the time that your boat was built. Some of the smaller Westerbeke engines were Mitsubishi based.. I know that some H-34's made around that time had Westerbeke 4 cylinder engines instead of the "normal" 3 GMF series by Yanmar.
The red block paint looks like Westerbeke and the ND injection pump kinda points to a mariinized Mitsu. .. But I really don't know.
