I purchased a 1977 H25 that was on the hard for 7 years. I am in the process of rennovating her now. I thought there are several varations/models/designs out there - perhaps for each year. Can anyone help me identify this one? I am really puzzled about the area where the steps are - there is no icebox and the fiberglass is cut to reaveal the aft end of the boat. Not sure if this was done by the owners or by Hunter. Also - it appears the fresh water tank is gone. Is this tank normally mounted under the starboard side cabin bench? Thanks! Mike

Here is a pic of the companion way - there is no icebox or platform steps - the boat did not have the fold down steps either. I am re-doing all of the wood cabinets, and may re-design it to include the ice box part (with landing for the steps)

A Classic Cherubini designed H-25
Mike, you have a classic John Cherubini designed Hunter 25. I'm sure most would agree that you have a fine well built boat, worth every penny you plan to invest in it. Congratulations! Good luck!

Looks like one of the P.O. was a madman!
Mike: It appears that one of the previous owners may have been a madman. I believe that the ice box was where the step into the companion way is. The boat came with a bladder tank that was under the cockpit. These were really great little boats, they sold for about 12,000 new. I had one for about 8 years and loved it.

Thanks for the info! Steve D - was the bladder tank perhaps where the opening is behind the steps, or on one side beneath the cockpit seats. Also, by bladder tank do you mean a soft sided "bag" to store the water? E-Bay has some soft water bag bladders for around $30-50 for a 9 gallon that look appealing since there is no need to get a storage tank with specific dimmensions. If any one has pics of a 73-79 (or similar) H25 showing the ice box from a couple diff. angles it would really help! Do yourself a favor and DO NOT go back in with a soft bladder type "tank". Do a search for Ronco Plastics and you'll have a large choice of hard poly tanks that are worth every penny you pay for them. I'd give the link, but I'm currently away from home running from hurricanes!

9 gal isn't enough water to be worth
the time, effort and cost of materials to install. I'd go with at least 15 gal...20 is better. Ronco Plastics http://www.ronco-plastics.com is your best source..they have more than 400 shapes and sizes, over 100 of which are non-rectangular...and they install fittings in the sizes and locations specified by the customer when they make the tank. We also need to discuss the toilet/holding tank...what's there (if anything) will almost certainly have to be replaced if it's still original...'cuz the toilet Hunter used in the '70s hasn't been made in 20 years...no parts available for at least 10 years. So let's talk before you do anything with the sanitation system.
