My ancient but functional WP 10 autopilot had some kind of tape under the clamp that holds the unit to the pedestal. It was very sticky and a little "cushiony" I'm guessing to protect the unit from the screw head in the pedestal that tightens down the throttle cable clamp. I had to remove the tape to replace the cable. Should have saved a piece but didn't.
Any ideas about what kind of tape would be a good replacement/substitute?

Thanks, Marty, but I think mounting tape has adhesive on both sides. Double sided won't work for this application.

Thinwater's suggestion led to several other leads. I am considering something called "mastic tape". A little pricey considering how little I need, but it looks like that or butyl tape.

Aw, c'mon, wufi...you have a 31 foot boat and a roll of tape will bankrupt you??? :):):)

Just kidding, I know you're trying to find "The Right Stuff."

Good luck.

Stu, Stu. You talk like a guy who's not married. When I broke my 9/64 drill bit and announced I needed to go out to replace it, Alex remarked that in 3000 square miles of ocean how could 1/64" possibly make any difference. I had no answer.

Wait, wait, the wife's calling...

Heck, that's the same drill bit I broke. Guess they just don't make 'em like they used to...:)
