Myerchin is great

I don't carry my Myerchin -- but it's in the the most important place on the boat so I can get to it quickly (everything critical in our boat is in a plastic tub that sits in the sink!).

I have the model that is half serrated and half smooth bladed, also has a marlin spike (and it has a little red LED that I don't use and think it's a bit goofy). I use this knife for important boat stuff and important other stuff - it'll cut a lime for use in gin in tonics like a hot knife thru butter.

A bit big -- but it'll handle big jobs. Feels good in the hand. Sharp enough to do heart surgery.

It's on ebay right now for a very reasonable price:

My vote is for Leatherman Wave.

Broke one after many years of use (tip broke of pliers - not impressed) -- but they sent me a brand-new one for free.

I like the 2 knives, plus the multitude of tools for working around the boat.

It goes on my belt before we leave the dock !
