A very old neighbor passed away a short time ago and located in his back yard was this sailboat. I did not know him very well so I was never able to speak with him about it. The make has perplexed me for quite some time now so I thought I would ask you all if you have ever seen such a boat? The story goes that this old guy and a few younger gentlemen (all over 80) tailored it to Florida and sailed it onto several islands south. I do know that for the last few years of his life he would go out and sit in the cockpit just to read. I really wish I would have known him, if nothing more that to hear his stories first hand. Anyway if anyone knows the make of this boat please let me know. I can find no markings on it anywhere other than the B.I.N. Thanks in advance!! I will say this after seeing the lines on this one I do so love our Hunter 34!!

Not sure either

I am not sure of the make of boat either (definitely not a Hunter), but I have seen them in Texas also. My guess is late 1970's or early 80's. Looks to about 23 to 25 feet. Maybe a Cal design?

A little more info

The boat was bought new in the late 70s, and is (as you can see)located in Ohio. I thought it may be a Cal also but am just not too sure. I would love to have a look inside but have been unable to locate his daughter. The next door neighbor told me that she was trying to give it away, but Im not sure if it is really the neighbor tring to give it away (GRIN)!

Cal - maybe

I vote Cal also. I remember seeing one that looked like it and it was a Cal - don't remember the model though.

No Cal

At least I don't think so. The flush deck does look like a Cal 28, but the ports are different as is the cockpit I think. There were some smaller knock-offs made. Probably one of them. Rick D.

Use Registration Number?

Maybe you can contact the state it was registered in and see if they have a record for it? Bow numbers are still clear...... Michael O'

Don't think it is a Cal

The Cal 25's front window was closer to the back and the engine transom cutout was centered instead of off to the side.
