Long story that I won't go into, but I'm looking for a fitting like the one pictured. I need two of these. The one in the photo is for sale on ebay but there is only one available. The seller says it came from a Hunter 28. It may have been added by the owner of the boat and not original but I thought perhaps some of you may know where to find such a thing.

Yes, that does make sense. Now, who makes it? DJN51, I'll be using them as lifting points for a dinghy, they'll be mounted on the back of the transom of the dinghy. This appeared to be perfect for my use because I need a bit of distance between the lifting point and the transom for a couple of reasons that are too complex for me to describe coherently.

Do you mean to lift the dinghy?
My friends dinghy with his souvenir of cruising the Chesapeake. So funny because we cruise Maine where you can walk to your boat on lobster buoys.

If you cannot find two of these fittings, you could talk to a stainless welder in your area. The guy in our neck of the woods is quite reasonable.

Cheers

I'll look at Bacon's, the next time I'm there, since you included a picture for me to know what I'm looking for.

I love putting minions to work! Thanks everyone! I did a little more digging and found a company in the UK called Seasure that makes something very similar and yes, it is a spin pole chock. $30 on ebay, $100+ from manufacturer in UK. Sure wish the guy on ebay had two!

Whisker pole mount

That is for attaching the whisker pole to the deck when storing. Do you have a whisker pole? Why do you need it when you don't know what it is?

In line with mystery pieces of boat rigging does anyone know what this is? It was on the boom when we purchased the boat from a PO who was not a sailor.

I've seen something similar on boats with roller boom furling mainsails. I believe it helps guide the main into the boom.

Ron, Bacons visit: Next time you are there, look for a small size whisker pole for me! (I haven`t been able to get there due to work schedule), . I have never been there so i was wondering if it was likely they would have one.

That's the attachment for the boom vang on a boat with roller boom reefing.. Allows the boom to rotate with the vang attached. Horrible system.

Try MarinePartDepot.com I didn't see that exact part there, but they probably have something that will work. I've bought a couple of items there, and it appears to be good stuff. Prices are dirt cheap. They have a ski rope attachment fitting, kind of similar to the part you're looking for, for $11.98.

Not the best possble answer

I'm detecting a note of sarcasm. Apparently, I have an obligation to carefully read and weigh all of the comments and info so that I can provide the best possible response so as not to waste any of DannyS' time. I will do better next time.
