What is this

On our Hunter 240 I've always wondered what the clips under the seat on the starboard side of the boat where supposed to hold. Today I saw this image from another boat online with a small handle for something in those clips. Does anyone know what that handle is for or what the purpose of the clips where originally designed for?

Manual bilge pump handle.

ditto on that but was later added as the new boats coming off line never had it.

Thanks for the information. I've never seen a manual bilge on the boat, so I'm sure some PO had taken it off the boat before I bought it. I always just wondered what those clips were for. Now I know. Mystery solved. Thanks again!

Bill - Do you mean the hatch where I keep the outboard fuel? The only thing in that area is the gas tank. Perhaps, I'm thinking about the wrong area.

On our 260 we have clips like that but slightly larger to hold our emergency tiller.
