Does any one know what this black stuff is. It is on the entire inside to various degrees. It's on a 1976 O'day 25.

I was afraid someone was going to say that. I'm looking at buying this boat. What will it take to clean...javex. This boat is sitting in -20c. Will mold survive this?

One of the nastiest and yet sure fire remedies to remove mold is to scrub the entire area with a solution of bleach and a little soap detergent to act as a wetting agent. Make sure you've got plenty of ventilation for this.
Once everything is clean, ensure the interior has good ventilation to avoid high humidity which promotes mold growth.
Do a search for "mold" with the author name "Peggie Hall-HeadMistress" and you'll find an encyclopedia of information on this.

Yep, looks like mold. If that is a cloth liner, you may have to tear it out. Bleach kills mold, but the discoloration is very hard to get rid of. Try a patch and see.
There appears to be a product on the market called concrobium that will do the job if it is mold.
Wear a mask. Pour a bleach and water solution and spray that entire area until it is soaked. Let that sit for about 30 minutes. It should turn from black to brown.

Don't even think of cleaning. It'll be easier and healthier to rip it out and install new liner. Mine was moldy and peeling off so I replaced mine. Looks like new. Got pictures posted in earlier posts. Don't have the time right now to ferret them out. If you're interested there are suppliers for the liner.
That's good news that the liner could be removed if necessary. Does anyone know of a supplier? While I'm at it, does anyone know of a good route to follow in getting the Vera 7 up and running? There is a guy in the UK, but is there someone on this side of the pond? Also where could I get the bearings/seals for the drive shaft - at the hull through and the support, and if I were to choose to pull the engine out altogether, how would I best plug the hull through?
