Yet another photo...

Hey Higgs, stop speed reading, and pay attention! ;P "Won" and "own" have the same letters, I just flipped'em around by accident. That's why I corrected myself in the very first thread. ANYHOW, here's another photo (I do have literally hundreds), this time of the "other" end of the boom, and you can see that the main sheet wouldn't be affected by rolling the boom, at least as far as I can tell. Me being in NY, and my girl in VA, means that I can't hop down to the slip and take a closer look. I so truly appreciate all you help, all my pissing and moaning aside. Speaking of which, here's an aviation joke (I'm a pilot) that I can attest to: "What's the difference between a pilot and a jet airplane? The jet stops whining when the flight's over."

I stand corrected

I stand corrected - I also stand by my original assessment. Seeing the other end confirms my statement I have two of these and we purchased them to attach a vang to.

reefing claw

It's a reefing claw, for sure, but it's not supposed to be anywhere near the roller-reefing gooseneck. It goes on the clew end of the boom. Used with a "kicking strap," a term reminiscent of "slap reefing."

Missing photo

Here's that photo. Hey, if you're going to toss terms like "kicking strap", and "slap reefing", please sxplain them to beginners like me. Sounds kinda kinky and violent to me...

I am so embarrassed..........

Someone gave us a sailboat. The first time on the boat, we plugged in the shore power cord, flipped on the battery charger and had a great time on the boat--everything worked fine. We turned off the charger. The next day, the battery charger wouldn't go on and nothing works--I mean nothing. We don't know who to call or what to do! We don't even know how to sail the boat yet so it just sits in its expensive slip. Just how steep is the learning curve??? Thanks.
