Spinnaker pole or whisker pole.. but it looks like more of an old fashioned spin pole. The pad eyes are for the uphaul and downhaul.. a line is usually rigged from the bail on the spring loaded shackle at the end so you can release it from the sheet. The pad eyes may have been the termination points for the release lines too..

I have one in my shed that looks almost exactly like yours. Mine came from an old LASER. Yes ... it is a gin pole.

Agree on the whisker pole, but the snap goes on the MAST end, into a ring on the mast. The end with the spike goes to the sail, usually into a larger grommet or D-ring

You're correct, TSBB .. but I can't tell if that is a spike or a spring fitting seen edge on.. Agree.. looks like a spike.. or whisker..

I'll take it off your hands.

It's a piece of garbage and taking up space on your boat. Send it to me and I'll dispose of it for you. I'll even pay shipping. :D

Looks like a spike to me Wayne. Looks like it's screwed to the side. Too small for your boat anyway- would do really well on mine.. Bring it on down when you get it-grin
