Any one know what this is, circled in red?? I thought perhaps a spinaker mast but I don't think so.

looks loke a

spinaker pole. The one end hooks onto a spinker bail fitting on the front of the mast and the other end go to the control line on the foot of the spinaker while a support line goes on the center of the pole. Pleanty written in sail books etc t get educated on how it works and how to use.

Looks like you are dry sailing on the Holland Marsh, Dwayne. Where do you plan to sail her ?)

It's nothing you need......

It's leftover garbage from the previous owner, I'll be happy to dispose of it for you though, PM me for my address and I'll even cover shipping costs! :) :)

Sad sight!

It disturbs me to see a boat on land this time of the year. That spinnaker pole should be out enjoying the summer breeze, with a colorful sheet moving you along the waves, causing the boat to gently plane the surf.

Yes, she is a dry cruiser

Well, I could put it in the water, but it will be more of a submarine if I did; all the seacocks need to be replaced. We are refurbishing this beast. I can't take the 70's motif. She will be happily sailing next spring, with new paint, windows, hatches, sails and interior trim.

I plan sailing her on lake Simcoe, then if I don't kill myself, Lake Huron. Surviving that, lake Ontario through the canals to the St. Lawerence and out to NFLD, IF....IF I think I can handle Blue water, yet to be determined.

I painted mine yellow

so it would be easier to find in the water. My PFD is under my coat, so don't jump on me.

What's this?

Can't tell how big the boat is, but the pole looks too small for a spinnaker pole. Looks more like a whisker pole.

Measure the length

Measure the length. Then check the 'J' measurement of you boat. This is the distance from the mast to the bowplate, where the tack of the foresail goes. Not sure about gin poles, but spinn poles are normally the length of the 'J', IIRC. Eric
