This is looking down at the keel bolts in a Catalina Capri 25. I think t might be an inspection hole, but what to look for, I don't know. I can't imagine they put it there for no reason.Thanks.

Hi Ted.No, the hole is further aft. The mast pole is still where it's supposed to be. The related link is a picture of all the keel bolts. To the far right of the picture you can just make out the bae of the mast to keel pole.

and can't really find anything Rick. Only thing I can think of is a table base (which don't seem right cause the traditional interior didn't have a round base) or it may be an opening that was used for the retractable keel models. I've posted link to the Association website in case you don't already have it. Sorry, but I bet someone on this board will know what the heck this is.

I had to call Catalina about somethin else, but while I had Kent on the phone I asked him about it. He semed to think it was something done to the boat after market...I'm still not sure. Someone else claimed it was for a dinnette leg that was an option. Who knows?
It looks like a previous owner made a hole to mount the bilge pump in. By haveing a hole lower than the rest of the bilge, the pump has the ability to get that last half inch of water that normally get left behind when the pump shuts off.
