My passage 420 has this on the cabin side of the aft head. There is another lower on the door mounted in the opposite direction. There is a bevel on it that makes it seem like some sort of french cleat.

I have two of these on my aft cabin door, aft side. (H376). But on mine, since the day I bought her in 1996, there has also hung a "Grab Bag". This is a canvas contraption about a yard long with about four pockets across it each having a velcro flap to retain the contents. Each end is the canvas strap handle which fits over the moon shaped wooden item shown in your photo. I also have two of them, the lower one with its straight edge uppermost to receive the lower handle and keep the whole thing from swinging about.

Though I have never used it, I regard it as a neat afterthought to the boat's design.

Well that makes sense (too bad I don't seem to have the bag)
Thanks!

Try "SailboatOwners.com Store" or even the previous owner - you never know your luck. ??

Ok, here ya go. On my H376 those support the top & bottom straps of a canvas zippered shoe bag. Probably holds 6-8 pair.

It holds what Hunter called a "Hanging Locker". It's a heavy canvas bag with 4 large compartments that can be used to store all sorts of things. It even has the Hunter logo embroidered on it. As mentioned earlier, there should be two attachment points on the door to keep it from swinging around.
