What is the worst movie about sailing ever?

One of the best sailing movies came out in the early 60's about the tall ships that are maintained by several countries as naval training vessels. It was done with a new three camera process (at the time) and the sailing scenes were awesome. Don't know if a copy is still around of if one exists. Movie was called "WINDJAMMER". If you have ever sailed "El Caribe" you can find free spirits like Capt Ron that would "go to sea in a shoe box with a mast stuck in it" Fair Winds Swabs

watch open water 2: adrift...I caught some of it on the iternational film channel and could not stop watching...it's based on a true story too

How did I miss this thread?!

I love the reverence here for Cap't Ron! ("I hated it so much I watched it 20 times.") I think it has taken over as #1 on my all time list of favorite movies. We have 2 copies on the boat. It is our training video. Now, if I could just figure out what they used on the wood... The frst scene showing the boat (the first glimpse over her shoulder) reminds us of what ours looked like when we first saw her.

Should have gotten an Oscar...

I actually enjoyed that one.

My first sailboat was an old wood boat I restored.

It was called "The Barnacle"

I will give open water 2 a go. It is time for another Captain Ron viewing. We have some friends that we spent a weekend on the Oday 25 sailing and fishing around Dog Island. They are now sailboat shopping. They will appreciate Capn Ron.

this is not a movie yet but could be ...any way i just wanted to mention a Book written by "Jim McCrackin" called "Two Innosents at Sea"......it is one of the neatest books i have read and well worth the read....sort of a comical romantic account of one couples love of sailing .........enjoy

Got Open Water 2 from netflix and watched it with some people that own a sailboat (but rarely get it wet). It was a good entertaining movie, just barely good. That boat Godspeed was a beauty.

Watched The Dove on Netflix streaming last night. 1974 movie about Robin Graham's solo around the world. A little 70s cheesy love story thrown in but what an awesome sailing movie. 17 year kid goes around the world in a Ranger 23'.

Watched Wolf Larsen on netflix streaming. Excellent sailing scenes throughout the movie. Great story. 1958 adaptation of Sea Wolf.
