Hi all. I bought a Hunter Legend 37 (1988) last year and would like to change the oil and Transmission fluid this spring. The proplem is that the person doing the last change touched up the engine paint and I can't see any of the numbers on the filter case. This is a Yanmar 3HM35F diesel and if I am not mistake the transmission fluid is the same oil as the crank case. We have no Yanmar dealer locally and would appreciate the help. I think Kabota tractors use yanmar engine and I may be able to sourse a filter locally through them. Thank in advance.

Yanmar models were listed in the auto parts store filter parts book. You end up with a Fram or other non Yanmar filter. Not sure about the tranny fluid. Seems like if you check the dip stick you can figure out if motor oil or tranny fluid.
There has been a lot of discussion about using "auto" filters on our engines. I have always figured for a little more, why risk it? You can go on line to places like Mack Boring or Torrenson and find your filters. John Deere also has Yanmars and I bought filters there before.
I have a 1991- 37.5 with the same engine 3hm35f and the Yanmar oil filter is listed as 124550-35110. However, last November when a went for a new one, I was told Yanmar changed the filter size and number. Next time I go to the boat I will get the new number. My transmition calls for ATF.
