Fred: I think that it is 3000 but not sure. There was a placard on the front of the engine that gives you the model, serial# and HP ratings. If not, you may want to contact a Yanmar dealer and see if they have the spec.
Thanks to the both of you. I have noticed that the engine will go just over 3K in Neutral, but I seem to get full boat speed at about 26-2800 RPM so I usually run in that range. Thanks again!
Fred: You may want to have a mechanic check out the govenor. I had to have this done on our 2GM20F. My mechanic told me that 'this' engine can easily be reved to 3800-4000 for short intervals without damage. After our adjustment we can now rev to about 3400-3600 in netural. Our max is 3600. We run the engine about 2800-3000 under load.
