What is the Line exiting from the Side of my boom for?

I've got a 1990 Vision 32 with the jiffy-reef boom .... I believe I have the internal boom lines rigged correctly .... but there's just one thing .... there's one line that exits from the side of the boom and I have NO IDEA what it is for .... can anybody tell me what it is? (I think I've attached a picture ... not sure since this is my first attempt at pictures!)
