Yes, I am getting a marine survey done, but the closest haul out is a four hour motor journey. Do you feel it is necessary to go to this extent? or an a marine surveyor complete a thorough enough exam in the water?

hello, The 302 (like the 272, 282, and 322) is one of the last O'day models built. It had a lot of 'new' technology as compared to the 'old' O'days (like the O'day 30 or 34), like wing keel, and light displacement (about 8000 lbs for a 30' boat). I'm not an expert, but I don't believe there are any serious problems with them. Here is a link with lots of info. Barry

I own a 87 O'Day 302. I like the boat and seam to have less problems than most But you should refer to the post by Maine Sail,"MAINTENANCE, UP KEEP & CONDITION, CONDITION, CONDITiON!! Of course you will be getting a full survey? Right? ". That the best advice I have seen. Also if possible you should have it hauled the check the keel joint and for blisters. I have not had a problem with either but it still should be checked.
