Here in Norwalk harbor in Long Island Sound diesel ranges from $1.59 to $1.79 per gallon. Gas is from $1.79 to $2.10 per gallon. Maybe we should do a survey?Mark Johnson
I don't know how much diesel is at a marina, but on the highway it's about what you mentioned. Gas is from $1.39 for regular to about $1.70 for premium. I've never seen gas over $2.00.Roc
Is usually at car rental companies. If you don't fill up the tank, they charge you $3.69 a gallon to fill it up. For boats? Diesel in TX is running around $1.69 at marinas, $1.30-1.50 on the road.
I only use about 5 gallons of diesel maybe every three months. At even $2.10 a gal (its about $1.70 in So. Fla.) its ten bucks so who cares? My buddy in the sports fisherman with twin 225s says he burns a couple hundred every time he goes fishing. Course, he gets to the Bahamas in about the same time it takes me to round Key Biscayne. But I'm sure I have much more fun getting there.
Diesel price is about 48 cents per gallon and regular gas is about 38 cents a gallon. Wait....maybe it is 1958 rather than 2000. The best i see regular gas at the pumps is $1.47 with diesel at best at $1.55 at the pumps. Since this is Massachusetts its still to cold to go to the marina to check.
In Kemah, diesel is $1.29 as of last weekend. I'm due for 10 gallons but I have sailed every weekend since I filled up 5 months ago. Operating costs for a sailboat are not too bad, purchasing and maintaining one is another story. BTW, at Randalls supermarket, they have gas for $1.31 on weekends if you use their card to get .15 off per gallon.
