With no manual, I have tried to compile data and write my own "manual". I don't have: Displacement:______ LWL:______ Max. h.p. for outboard:___ Sail area: ____(With estimates I get about 145 sq. ft.) Draft with center board up:____ Draft with center board down:_____ I used a lot of data from the Precision 18 sailboat, which seemed very close to the O'Day specs. Also, I'd like to understand a few things about the craft. Such as, what is the well forward of mast support pole in cabin for? And, why is winch mounted on mast (to raise jib--former owner's reponse) ?

192 Info

Larry, You can find a scanned image of the orignal brochure for the 192 at: http://home.att.net/~oday/ The well under the vee berths is just storage space. Would be glad to answer any other questions. I have had mine about four months now and really love it. There are also at least 3 or 4 others with 192s that monitor this forum. I still don't understand why we can't get our own listing under the boats. John Sims

192 outboard

The sketchy "Operating and Rigging Instructions" I got with my 192, they "...recommend a maximum of 15 horsepower with a long shaft". They also say "...We feel that 4-8 hp will be more than adequate." I have a 10hp Mercury electric start with built in charging alternator which I love, but, there are times I would like a few more horses.

O'Day 192 displacement

Just bought an O'Day 192 from an estate, the rigging was undone and no one to ask questions. However I do have some answers for you. L.W.L. is 16'8", displacement is 2,040 lbs,max hp is 8(my 8 hp OMC works great), draft is 1' and 4'4" respectively. Do you have a boom vang rigged? Interesting reading how to keep the rudder fully down, I have that problem as well.
