We have decided to upsize next year and I have been looking at ads on all the different web sites. I would like to buy either a Cat 30' or ODay 30'. I have seen ads for Catalinas refering to them as Sloop Rigged. What is the definition of a sloop rig sail boat. To me, they look like a regular Cat 30. I also assumed that a "Capri" is more of a daysailer and not really designed for weekends. can someone help me out?

A sloop rig is the most common rig type you'll see with one mast, one main sail, and one foresail. This is also sometimes referred to as a Marconi rig. I've included a link to a page that briefly explains most rig types under "sailboat rigs". As to the Capri, you're right, these are stripped down racer types, not your comfortable cruises like the 2 you're looking at. Good luck, Jim
