Hunter 420 Passage San Diego
We are considering purchasing a new "2001" Hunter 320 or 340. Hunter seems to be making a nice offer of picking up the payments until April 2002. But what kind of a discount off the selling price shoul I expect from the dealer???? Thanks for any input

Good Price?

With the market the way it is, the dealers are apparently 'hurting' - I know because my 380 has been up for sale since last October, listed with my dealer/broker and very little interest so far. Just remember that the dealer gets about 20% commission on the sale of a new Hunter. Allowing for commissioning costs, you still have a fair amount of 'wiggle room' in the price. Negotiate hard and see what happens - all they can say is no!

Play off the dealers against each other.

Rick: I recommend that you call 3-4 dealers and have them quote you a price for the boat. Also pick a dealer in another area too. Ask them for the price with no extras. Once you have their bottom line base price you can start playing with the extras. I would think that it is going to be a good time to buy with the no interest for several months etc etc.
