balboa 1970 cherokee
Okay, so I bought a 1970 Balboa 20. What little I found on it before I purchased it for $850 seemed just what I thought I was looking for.
1. as inexpensive as possible
2. nearly ready to sail - motor, sails, FLOATABLE, cabin a must the bigger the better but at least something to work with ie - toliet, bunk, place to sit, and everything else a plus
3. able to be sailed solo
4. good biginners boat
5. self righting and self bailing really helpful
6. trailorable (with ease)

Now, I am used to doing alot with next to nothing and I am no stranger to pushing the edge of what is considered, shall we say of sound mind.
what I read BEFORE was that this is a great boat. Easy to handle, ideal for the inexperianced etc., etc. ALSO - two sister ships (20 ft'er) have crossed the Atlantic and 1 hase even went round the globe.
I plan to take her to Africa in a couple years but I've been getting ALOT of negative feedback from some other sailors. I need some advice from the guys and gals that actually own/owned a balboa (20' in particualler) and have sailed it in the ocean and not just a pond somewhere.:D
thanks!
