What Happened To Fred Ficarra?

Remember Fred Ficarra? I often think of him and refer to his work when I'm planning a new project on my H34. To me he was one of the most knowledgeable (and opinionated :) ) owners on this forum. What happened to him? I hope he is well and out sailing somewhere or riding around in his Camaro enjoying his retirement.

Re: What Happened To Fred Ficarra?

I have wondered the same thing. I have not seen Fred post here in quite some time. I too had a Hunter 34 for 3 years and Fred was my go to guy at the time. Wasn't the name of his boat Epitome?

That's Right Princess

His boat was named Epitome. I can't find his "improvements" site on HOW any longer either. Wonder if Phil could make it available once again or maybe I'm just not looking in the right place.

Fred knew more about the Hunter 34 than anyone though there are some on this site that know almost as much. He was a good guy. Just wondering what happened to him.

I was curious myself so I did some searching with google (his restoration of a Hunter 34 was inspirational). You can find him over at Cruising and Sailing forum under the name slomotion. Last post was back in December - sounds like he is still actively sailing.

Joe...

I "captured" a number of pics from Fred's website a few years back. They are a great reference many of the kinds of overehauling we are faced with.
