What EPIRB etc do you have on your boat?

Looking at EPIRBS and just wondering who has what and where do you keep it.

Or what else do you have instead (EPIRB is a serious bit of kit I know)

We have a ACR GlobalFix PRO mounted to the bulkhead near the nav station on our First 367. It requires no coverage area, no subscription. No power babysitting. It flat out just works. But only for pure emergencies.

We also have a Delorne INreach sat messenger/tracker. Tracking and two-way messaging from anywhere. We love it.

ACR Global Fix iPro - similar to Jack's unit, but has a test function that allows you to confirm duty ready and working. On the bulkhead on the way out of the boat. The crew briefing says, "that goes with us if we leave the boat" Ditch bag under the nav station has a pocket for it.

Before you go dow the EPIRB route, ask yourself what sort of sailing you do?
How many times each year are you off shore (>20nm from land), then decide if the approx $700 is worth spending.
I have and ACR that came with the boat, for my cruising i do not need it but i still replaced the battery for $250, which will last 5 years.

I am looking at the same possibility. We cruise the coast of a Florida and in the Bahamas. Shopping around I am wondering if a sat phone might be a better purchase than an EPIRB for us.

We have a small ACR PLB that we think is sufficient for coastal cruising. It wasn't expensive, and sits at the nav station, next to the companionway, normally. If sailing offshore a bit, it goes in the ditch bag.
