I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
I am just curious to see what everyone is paying for a round trip. I hauled out last Wednesday, did my work and went back in today (Monday). I found out that they went up from $8 a foot to $9 and they are now charging $5 a day when the boat is in the yard ($10 after the tenth day). I thought that my bill was going to be around $300. It turned out to be $400 because they charge for powerwashing and for blocking the boat. I thought that this was a bit expensive. Two years ago I only spend $240 in Deltaville for the haulout. Is everyone seeing prices like this or did I get jacked?

No grease or lube in Tahoe!

Getting the boat in/out is only outdone by their berthing fees. ....and they are not very gentle. It is cheaper to rent a boat than own one at Tahoe!

Catalina 38 San Francisco Bay
SF Bay typical rates

Rates here on San Francisco Bay run approx: $10.00-$15.00/ft (depending on the length of the boat) to haul, set and splash including pressure wash and environmental fees. Lay days $25 - $30 / day. Add $4-$5/ft if you bring your own bottom paint. We expect to spend $1300 - $1900 doing most of the work ourselves & buying and renting all the 'stuff' from the yard over 3 - 5 days for our Catalina 38. Our neighbor recently spent about $1400 to have the yard do all the work on a 33 ft with 2 coats. (winter discount).

Absolutely.............

...........no benefit of lubrication of any kind. As a matter of fact, the marina charges (extorts) 20% of any amount invoiced by an outside contractor for work performed there. It's the most assinine thing I've ever seen or heard of. The marina offers very few services and makes it unfriendly to others comming to offer theirs. Tim

Wow that's expensive!

Geez, I only pay about $800 +/- for winter storage (haul out, power wash, stands, splash in spring). I cant even imagine those kind of prices for a short haul!!!!! For that kind of money i'd run my boat up to a sand bar, bring some 4x4's with me as braces and let the tide run out and get to work. If I got stuck when the tide came back in, i'd finally put my boat US tow insurance to good use.... Manny

Manny, low tide is only once a year at Tahoe!

Manny: Low tide at Tahoe is usually around Nov. - Jan. each year. High tide is usually around June 15th (peak of the snow melt)!

Don't know the break down, but...

A yard in SD Bay is quoting me $700+ for a haul out, paint, and return to water.

Good one, Steve.

....I'll expect a hand scraping off my barnacles during the Tahoe low tide next year. Or better yet, truck the boat down to Sac and be your neighbor for about a third of the price and get to use the boat year round to boot.

Recent prices

Recently checked on prices for pulling mine and doing my own bottom job. The only marina left in Slidell capable of pulling larger boats, has gone up considerably. It is now 10.00 a foot to pull, power wash, block and splash, which is what it was before Katrina. Thats not too bad, but it has gone up to 1 dollar per ft. per day in the yard, since Katrina.

all these charges

all these charges per day in the yard...do they charge you extra if they get behind and splash you a few days late? Or is this per day that you come in and work onthe boat yourself.

Port of Port Townsend

For a C36 $287 round trip, pressure wash, place on stands, move stands, plus and additional $94 for yard time (Monday 15:00 haulout, Friday 15:00 back in). I had originally scheduled a Monday out, Monday in (they don't haul on weekends, but you can get the stands moved), but finished up by Thursday, so I asked to be put on standby for Friday. You can do your own work, or hire others, the yard only hauls, pressure washes (they will let you do the wash using their washer(you still pay)), and place on stands. Electricity is provided if you need it. Their rates are per foot overall length.
