I've a Hunter 260.
I have a roller furler jib so the only reason to have the jib halyard is for raising or lowering the mast. Otherwise, it's been in the way.
I've lashed it to the mast plate. It slaps the mast or, if I loosen it, it slaps the sail.
I lashed it to a stanchion. If I tighten it, it will be slack and slap the sail on a broad reach or be "boinging" like a rubber band, all depending upon what tack I'm on and what tension I have it at. To me, that means it's messing with the mast bend some too. Regardless, I don't want it slapping the sail.
I could lash it forward if I'm not using the jib, but it will be in the way if I do use the jib.
Any suggestions?
