I was attempting to remove the oil filter today, it is in a brutal spot on my boat and I managed to snap off a part just above ant to the left of the filter.

It has a rubber cap on it and a wire connected to it and a spring inside. See pictures.

The engine is a yanmar 1gm10

that is the oil pressures switch for your oil light and alarm you can get one at napa for about 15 bucks...just take the old one in so you can match up the threads and make sure it works at around 4 psi....

That wasn't best guess. Does anyone know if I can run the engine like this before I get a replacement? Will it just set off the audible alarm or turn the warming light on?

as long as it does not leak you can but i recommend you get a replacement ASAP...you can disconnect the wire and isolate it from grounding and you will not set off the alarm

You will probably need to plug the hole if you remove the sender to take it with you in search of a new one. It looks like it down pretty low on the motor.
