What could this be for?

Was re-bedding my chain plates and this is on the deck, only on the starboard side, any ideas as to what it’s supposed to be for?

A pole can be used to hold a jib out when going down wind, too. A really nice thing to have. As for the spinnaker, even if you don't use it for sailing your boat, spinnaker flying your crew is fun, no pole needed.

But you do have a jib- a whisker pole is very nice for DDW sailing- Wing and wingj
