I know I've seen Maine Sail post what soaps are safe for washing the boat without removing the wax but I can't find it anywhere...

I'm using #885. want to pick some soap up so I can wash the deck (last year I just rinsed with water, didn't always get things clean), but don't want the soap to destroy the wax on the hull when it rinses down.

You can use IMAR boat wash or Awlwash. They are both wax safe products.

Thanks alot! Now if it would only warm up a little more so I can get motivated and go work on the boat today...

If it has been a year since you last waxed it, it is a moot point - no wax will last that long exposed to sunlight and rain.

Maguires Auto Wash Soap .... neutral pH, wont dissolve wax. Any 'soap' or detergent that is 'caustic' (pH greater than 7) will dissolve 'wax'.

I inferred it had been a year:
"want to pick some soap up so I can wash the deck (last year I just rinsed with water, didn't always get things clean), but don't want the soap to destroy the wax on the hull".

yeah, slightly confusing. the deck hasn't been compounded / polished yet since buying the boat, so it hasn't been waxed either. The topsides on the otherhand have been polished to a shine that you use in the morning to shave, and then got 2.5 coats of 885 fleetwax (2.5 = 2 coats everywhere, plus a 3rd near the waterline). I'm looking for a good soap for washing the deck, that won't ruin the wax on the topsides when it runs down. I'm going to pick up one of the options Ted suggested next time I am at WM...
