On an H-26, compression post lower plate, there are two #10 Phillips head bolts forward of the compression post receiver tube (see attached photo). What are they for? Thanks, BrianW

I spoke with Crazy Dave on the phone and he indicated that the screws were included in early H-26s to keep the centerboard bracket straight. After it was determined they were really not necessary, Hunter discontinued them. BrianW

Brian, I need to talk with you as I am not sure what this photo is of. I am talking about a single #10 screw that was on the upward portion of the post and not on the base. If that is the base but bolted on onto the plate, then that is a different issue.

Call me on Monday.

Will do Dave. These bolts not the ones that go through the bottom of the compression post and into the receiving cup. They go through the plate itself. The attached photo in the first post is looking down at the compression post receiving cup with the bolts in question forward of the cup. The CB uphaul line is going through the cup. The big CB bracket bolt is not showing, but it is just behind the receiving cup.

Here's a photo from Pat Adam's article on "CB Trunk Plate Removal". According to the article, they are "bottom plate retaining screws". BrianW

I wondered about that. I was looking from a different angle without the compression post. It has been some time seeing that off which made me wonder. Thank you sir.
