Hello,

1987 30 hull # 4993. I've owned here for about 4 weeks now. What are the following blocks and connections for?

The rectangular chrome piece behind the window with a small threaded stub. Is this something to help hold the dodger frame?

What are these two blocks on either side of the mast used for? Spinnaker, Zombie attack???

Same question for this one in the middle of the foredeck??

Previous owner mods can be mysterious, but I think your foredeck block would make a fine spinnaker sock downhaul fairlead.

I'd try and find out from the person who sold you the boat.
G'luck.

The was clearly rigged for a symmetrical spinnaker at one time. The blocks in pic two were probably for the spin halyard and pole topping lift. The block in pic three is perfectly placed for pole downhaul (foreguy).

Thank you for the replies guys. The wife and I will have to buy one and learn to use it, ha ha.

Any ideas on the chrome fiddly bit in the first pic?

Nels

Hi Jack,

Do you have a pic of what is supposed to go there? We have the dodger but not the piece that goes there. I have been using bimini ties to pull it tight.

No photo, but the part of the dodger that attaches to that part is the main stainless loop so it can fold forward and aft directions. There is then a stainless strut attached to the dodger that attaches where you have the carpet? for entering that pulls the dodger into position and tightens it. Some dodgers use some line to pull the dodger into position there. The stainless strut is handy for a handhold in getting into the boat.

Ha ha Jack! You are a funny guy and dont know it!!!

The "carpet" is the teak combing tread. Currently all of the bright work is in my garage. I have sanded all "the carpet" and put 3 coats of cetol natural teak and 1 coat of cetol gloss. I will have the final coat of gloss tomorrow and will prolly let it sit for a week or so before re-installing "the carpet".

That's funny, I don't care who you are! LOL!

Nels
